SIUE.
I absolutely LOVE where I go to school! Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a big school with a small town feel. The campus is beautiful and gigantic. It is one of the largest campuses in the United States and one of the safest! I have gotten really involved on campus because I want to give back to the school that has helped me grow and learn so much.
Student Government
This year, I was fortunate enough to join Student Government as the internal affairs officer. It has been so much fun working with the senators and appointing students to committees all over campus. If you want to get involved, get ahold of me! The Student Government office is located in the Student Success Center at the end of the Kimmel Leadership Center. Come have your voice heard!
Alpha Sigma Tau
I decided to join a sorority when I came to SIUE, and it was one of the best decisions of my life! Going Greek gets you so involved on campus and makes you a well rounded person. Greek organizations are social and a lot of fun, but we also raise thousands of dollars a year for philanthropies like Habitat for Humanity, Up Til Dawn, and the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
My sisters are always there for me. I have made my best friends in AST and definitely some of my bridesmaids.
College Democrats
I have definitely become more politically active since I've been in college, and that is in part due to College Democrats. I've done some fun stuff with them like going to fundraisers and knocking on doors for politicians. I have also met a lot of interesting people, such as senators and state representatives at some of the events we hold.
STARs
Obviously, I really love the school I go to. One day, I was in the bookstore and saw a family that was visiting. I could not stop my self; I had to ask them how their trip to SIUE was. I talked to them for a while and gave them my student perspective of how much I liked SIUE. After that, I knew I had to volunteer to be a tour guide. I have been an SIUE STAR for a year now, giving tours to prospective students and their families, and it is a very rewarding experience.
I am the chief justice of Greek Council at SIUE. I have been a part of Greek Council since my freshman year. It is a great way to get involved with Greek life as a whole. Greek Council puts on all Greek events and promotes unity between all of the Greek organizations.
Springboard to Success
Last summer, I was a Springboard to Success Student Leader. It was the best experience I have ever had! Not only did I get to lead groups of new freshmen through their orientation and help them register for classes, but I made some of my best friends! The people who work with Springboard are fun, exciting and diverse. I might never have met some of these fantastic people without being a Springboard Leader, but I'm really glad I did!
