COVID-19 Student Time Entry Guidelines

COVID-19 Student Time Sheet

COVID-19 Planning and Student Employment - Updated March 23

As a follow-up to our message that was distributed on 3/18/2020 regarding student employment, we are providing additional details on the compensation plan that was developed for student employees during this time.

For those student employees who were asked to work in a mission-critical function, you will continue to be paid for actual hours worked.

Student employees who were not asked to work during this time will be paid for scheduled hours that would have been worked, from March 16, 2020 through May 3, 2020.

Again, if you were not asked to work by your supervisor, we ask that you continue to practice social distancing.  Your supervisor may ask if you would be willing to work in a remote or work-from-home scenario if additional support is needed.  Students should only return to campus with prior approval from their supervisor.

We appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as we do our part to “flatten the curve” during this pandemic.

Any questions you may have about your student employment should be directed to your supervisor.

Stay healthy and well.

ATTENTION: The State of Illinois is raising the minimum wage in stages until it reaches $15.00 per hour by 2025. The first increase of $1.00 per hour went into effect January 1, 2020. The next increase will be .75 on July 1, 2020 bringing minimum wage to $10 per hour for student employees.

National Student Employment Week is April 12th-18th, 2020.  Make your student employees feel appreciated.

Earn Money to Help Finance Your Education

Many opportunities exist on campus in which you may earn while becoming a valuable part of the campus community. Employment Programs for students include three types of on-campus employment, each offering a variety of experiences to enhance your education and your future. SIUE also offers an off-campus referral service through our Job Locator and Development Program.

Available jobs in all of these categories are posted on Student Job Finder. Students hired by on-campus departments will be registered for payroll and will be paid according to the Payroll Schedule, usually bi-weekly. Most on-campus positions start at minimum wage. You must be enrolled at least half-time and be financially cleared for the term to work on campus, as well as meet other eligibility criteria. Key Employment Dates for each term should be observed in order to maintain eligibility status.
