DEXA scans are currently considered the "Gold Standard" of physiological measurements. The scan provides one of the most highly accurate measurements of body composition available, registering fat and lean mass distribution throughout the entire body, as well as specific regions of the body. It is capable of providing measurements of whole body bone density.
Expectations
You can expect to be on campus between 30-45 minutes. After completion of some initial paperwork, we will measure your height and weight. Then you will be ready for your DEXA scan. All you will be required to do is lie on the DEXA scanner quietly for 7-15 minutes depending on your body type.

Please wear athletic clothing that does not have any metal on it. To ensure the validity and accuracy of the test, it is important to not wear anything metal.
There are no special food or drink restrictions for this test.
If you are female, you will be required to complete a pregnancy test to ensure that you are not pregnant.
Results
Immediately after the scan, a technician will print your results and explain them to you and answer any questions that you might have.
