Graduate Students:
Yangyu Zhu
Yangyu is a MS graduate student in the Environmental
Science Program, with an emphasis in Environmental Biology. He is the recipient
of the 2010-2011 Competitive Graduate Award from SIUE. He received his BS in Forest
Resources Conservation and Recreation from Beijing Forestry University. His
thesis research focuses on plant-microbial Se volatilization.
Samantha Thirumala Kumara
Samantha
is a MS graduate student in Environmental Science Program with emphasis in
Environmental Toxicology. She obtained a BS degree in Biotechnology from Shanmugha Academy in India. She is a RGGS award winner at
SIUE, and her thesis research deals with effects of plant and microbial
interaction on Se volatilization.

is a URCA undergraduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences. His
research focuses on the development of Se-biofortified
edible mushrooms.
