BICYCLE SAFETY
Accessibility seems to be the most common pattern to this crime, but there are several things that you can do to minimize your chances of becoming a victim.
* Use a bicycle lock to store your bicycle in the bicycle racks.
* Bicycles that are not in use at Cougar Village should be secure within
your apartment. Although this may be inconvenient for the second
floor dwellers. It is the best safeguard against thefts. In the past,
there have been bicycles stolen from the second floor balconies, so keep
them inside.
* Bicycles at Woodland Hall and Prairie Hall should be secured on the
bicycle rack outside. Bicycles are not permitted in the building.
* Join Operation Identification. Engrave your bicycle with your
driver’s license number and two-state abbreviation. This makes it
easier for the police to identify your bicycle and return it to you.
* Record all descriptive information about your bicycle including serial
number and model. Attached is a bicycle owner information sheet,
please fill it out and keep it in a safe place.
