Course Coordinator responsibilities include:

·         PHEP 714:  Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience I:  Professional Role Observations.  First year professional students are assigned to both a hospital and community rotation during this course.  I am responsible for the management of rotation site placements, explanation of the rotation objectives, supervision of students while on rotations, and facilitation of classroom discussions when students return. 

·         PHEP 715:  Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience II:  Service Learning.  Responsible for establishing and developing an appropriate service learning project for approximately 82 first year professional students each spring semester.  Previous projects included the File of Life, poison prevention education, and nutrition and physical activity education presentations. 

·         PHEP 730:  Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience III.  I am responsible for the management of rotation site placements for hospital, community, or alternative rotation sites for students in their second professional year.

·         PHEP 731:  Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience IV.   I am responsible for the management of rotation site placements for hospital, community, or alternative rotation sites for students in their second professional year.

Other responsibilities include:

·         Developing and maintaining relationships with pharmacist preceptors in the state of Illinois.

·         Routine site visits to facilities who regularly provide rotations for our students.

·         Review of site evaluations after each rotation period as a method of quality assurance.  Compilation of data to determine trends.  Creation and distribution of annual preceptor performance reports.

·         Creation and maintenance of a yearly database for preceptor availability for upcoming academic years.

·         Assuring that the requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education in regards to Experiential Education are met.

·         Providing training for newly acquired pharmacist preceptors.

·         Delivering accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the professional staff and patients.

·         Providing clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners by suggesting appropriate and cost effective therapeutic alternatives to staff as needed.
