ECE 404 Senior Design Oral Reports

Your presentation should be 10 to 15 minutes for a project engineering team. Each person in the team must talk for a portion of the time. Due to the limited class time you will be cutoff if you exceed the upper limit.

This will be followed by questions from the audience. Make sure you PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE - preferably in front of people, e.g., other students, friends, relatives - whoever you can get to listen! If you are well-prepared this will help to alleviate nervousness - something we all experience.

Dress in a professional manner, this is a formal presentation. For our purposes this can be business casual; no blue jeans, T-shirts or shorts. No sandals or flip-flops. If you dress professionally, you will act professional.

Be sure you read Chapter 12 in the primary text. Your presentation will be evaluated using the following criteria:

Introduction – Are all group members introduced? Is there a complete overview of the project, including the problem analysis?
Professionalism – Appearance, manner, visual aids (use PowerPoint), etc
Clarity – Can we understand what your design is about?
Organization – Is your talk well-organized? Does it follow a logical progression? Is it presented in a top- down hierarchical manner?
Completeness – Are all the parts there? Did you provide a good introduction? Did you provide clear, positive conclusions and/or summary?
Communication – Did you maintain eye contact with the entire audience? Did they understand you?
Time Limits – Did you stay within the specified time limits?
Understanding – Do the group members understand what they plan to do?
Questions – Were you successful at fielding questions after you presentation? Are you knowledgeable on the subject matter?
