The Architect

Frank Lloyd Wright

A brilliant and controversial figure in American architecture.

Wright had been independently designing buildings for more than 50 years at the time he accepted the commission to create  Fallingwater.  At the time, he and his work had fallen into near obscurity because his designs, based on his theory of organic architecture --  the harmonious union of art and nature -- were so asynchronous  to prevailing architectural mores.

An excellent discussion of the man and his work, can be found at  Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Website .
