This is a page to show you how to create use a template in Dreamweaver.
The first thing that you need to do is to select > File > New. Then you will select "Blank Template" from the various choices. When prompted, you will want to select "HTML Template" from the "Template Type" prompt. If you are a little more skilled at making web spaces, then you may choose other types. One thing that I think is essential when designing a web space is the use of tables. Tables allow you to lock cells into place. In each cell you would different content, such as your menu bar or a logo as a header. Without tables, there is a great chance that your content will float on you. You can add tables by clicking > Insert > Tables. Then you will select the layout, including the number of rows and columns. When creating a template, you must given the page a region that is editable (meaning, that you can edit it). In templates, any area that isn't given an "Editable Regions" tag will be locked in any page that you create from this template. To add an editable region to your template you have to select the place that you want your editable region then click > Insert > Template Objects> Editable Region. To help yourself with page organization, you can name each editable region. In the above photo, I have only one editable region of the four cells on my page. I also have include a drop down menu to my template. To add a drop down menu to your template, you need to Once you have completed your layout for your template, you can create pages using it. When you click "New", you will be prompted to select the type of page that you would like to create. Simply click "Page From Template". Then you will select the appropriate template that you would like to create your web space with (preferably the one you just created).
