This page shows how to create a Wiki account at http://www.wikispaces.com. A wiki is a great place to go to collaborate with colleagues. It is also an area where all people can edit and add content.
Above is a short video to explain how to get started with a Wiki account. I can really see the value in having a wiki set up for professional collaboration and idea sharing. With the ability to share content and build materials together, you should be able to make your space a valuable teaching resource. For students, this will give them a space to work on group projects from wherever they can find internet access. First thing that you will need to do is navigate your browser to www.wikispaces.com. Then, you will be prompted with a box that allows you to join. If you follow the prompts, you will be asked to supply a desired username and a password. As simple as that, you have an account that you can begin using. Of course, there are tutorials included that I would strongly recommend. They include such topics as how to set user privileges, how to add content, and even general information about wikis. The first thing to know is that, initially, everyone can edit your wiki (this is the default setting). To edit your space, you click the "Edit This Page" button on the top menu bar. You will then enter into edit mode, where you can place text, pictures, video, and even embed things that have a simple HTML code (like from the internet- myspace....etc). During the page editing process, you will find a menu bar at the top of the page. Obviously, each button allows you to different tasks. Most multimedia tasks can be accomplished by pressing the "Embed Widget" button (the one that looks like the TV). Once you have tweaked your page to its desire look and feel, you will hit the save button. This will allow all changes to be made to your wiki viewable to the internet.
