Student presentations in history
Grade Level: High School
Activity: Students are to prepare a presentation of some sort
(video or in class skit) about a particular topic. For example, if done in a history
class, students might make a video about the Boston tea party in which they recreate
the event and video tape it for the class to watch. In doing this the students
would be divided into groups and each given a different topic to research and
then present. In the end each student will be able to view the presentations created
by their classmates.
Teachers Role: For this activity the teacher's role is very limited.
The teacher comes up with topics that relate to his/her lesson or what they want
the students to learn about and then sets up the deadline for the activity. The
teacher may provide students with resources or props if need be. The teacher should
allow the students to come up with their own ideas on how to present the information
and encourage creativity.
