      This month, we celebrated Emily's first birthday.  It never really hit me until Duane's step-mom gave the blessing just how far we have come in a year's time.  She mentioned how a year ago, we were praying for her to be OK and today we celebrate her first birthday.  For a few days there, I was wondering if we would ever get to this point.

      But, we have surpassed the 1 year plateau now and are anxiously awaiting the 'terrible two's'.  I have some pictures of her first birthday, but I haven't gotten them uploaded yet.  She was the typical 1 year old.  She tore into the cake after a few moments and fell asleep in time for the opening of presents.

      Emily's Grandma and Grandpa Take and Grandma and Grandpa Meyers attended.  Grandma Hinton was recovering from knee surgery and couldn't make it.  We video taped it for her.  Great Grandma Take, Great Grandma Meyers and Great Grandma Harrington attended.  Emily's cousins (and aunt and uncle) from Chicago were there as were Uncle Rocky and Luda.  My goddaughter and her family were there also.  It was definitely a busy time for us!

      Emily went to the doctor a few days after her birthday.  She weighed 22 pounds and was 28 inches long.

      She is crawling all over the place and loves to sit in her swing.  The daycare provider takes her to the pool several times a week and she just LOVES the water.
