The SIPDC has a collection of over 5,000 resources in its lending library. These resources can be divided into two categories: student and classroom materials that include workbooks, texts, videos and computer programs; and personal/professional growth materials that include journals, periodicals, books, curricula and videos.
Adult education colleagues are invited to visit us at SIUE, Alumni Hall, Room 0138 any weekday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or use the SIPDC LIBRARY MATERIAL RESOURCE GUIDE (available at each adult education program site) to select items for use with their classes or for their personal professional growth and call/email us to check out materials. The only cost to local programs is return postage.
Monthly, each adult education program receives 3 copies of selected journal articles. Reviewed by SIPDC staff, these articles cover topics related to teaching/learning, communication skills - reading/writing/speaking, family/intergenerational literacy, GED/assessment, general, multicultural, professional development, special needs/special populations, work related and technology. Copies of the articles are circulated among the staff by the program administrator, program representative and literacy coordinator. To view the monthly listing, click " journal articles" above.
