The purpose of this study is
to identify if participation in online modules on active
learning strategies, faculty empowerment, innovative behavior,
empowerment, and autonomy will influence the adoption of active
learning activities in higher education courses. Using a
pre-test, post-test design, participants in an experimental
on-line module group will complete three modules about
developing and implementing active learning strategies and be
encouraged to adopt an active learning strategy in their course.
Participants will be encouraged to discuss and share their
ideas, successes, and failures with other participants in order
to learn and support others. A control group will complete the
pre and post- questionnaires at the same time as the
experimental group and also be encouraged to adopt an active
learning strategy, but these participants will not complete the
modules or engage in the described discussion groups.
