CONSUMPTION

The increased consumption of material goods has come along with unprecedented economic growth.  Planned obsolescence and disposable products become the norm.  Many people have viewed conservation as doing without, enduring hardship.  Solid waste and energy waste are on the rise, leading to increased environmental pollution and increased consumption of resources.  Sustainable solutions to overdevelopment and overconsumption include recycling, substitution, reducing needs, and practicing more energy-efficient policies.
