A beautiful Steam Engine resides at The House on the Rock.

This whale was probably life size.  It was in the middle of a 3-story room.  There are no words to describe this wonderful house, museum, and showplace.

The House on the Rock is approximately 1 hour, or 60 miles southwest from the Wisconsin Dells on Route 23.  If you go you will probably go through Reedsburgh, home to the Normal Rockwell Historical Museum.  You will pass by Taliesin, Frank Lloyd Wright’s creation, as well.

Melissa enjoyed purchasing tokens throughout the House to place in the calliopes and various exhibits which play music or are moveable.

Take an entire morning or afternoon to visit The House on the Rock. If you can… take a whole day.  There are two restaurants inside. I wouldn’t suggest taking small children as they might become bored.

It’s well worth the visit to this showplace.

The Carousel at HOTR has over 20,000 lights, 189 chandeliers, and over 200 animals on it.  There is not one “horse”, but various beasts from land and water.  The carousel is moving and hence the fuzzy shot.
