Making
the Most of Subject Searching
The
advantage of a Browse Subject search is that it allows for a more focused
search.
|
The
disadvantage is that it is sometimes hard to know the correct LCSH term
that will used
be for a topic.
|
A
good strategy is: |
- First, use
your own terms in a Any Word Anywhere keyword search.
- Look at the
records for books that are on your topic (in an Any Word Anywhere
search the most relevant results will be listed first).
- Write down
any relevant subject terms that are listed and use them later in
Browse Subject searches or
- Click on
the hyperlinked subject term.
