1. In this collage I have tried to portray my memory of my dad, Fernand Andris, in the earlier part of my life. Mom and dad took their honeymoon at Lake Pymatuning. They were married August 16, 1937, so this picture of dad is from a trip before that. 2. I think the picture of dad in the grocery store door is taken at 321 Greene St. Some time about 1946, dad and Wade Markley, a carpenter, built a concrete block building which still stands at 313 Greene St. 3. The picture of dad sleeping in the TV room is a typical pose for Fernand. He was an extremely active man, a builder, a realtor, a grocer, a farmer, at various times in his life, but when he finally sat down, he frequently went to sleep. | 4. In
the early 50's, dad and mom bought a cottage up the Muskingum River about
8 miles. They loved to fish, play cards, and, of course, dad loved to drink.
That is another story. Here he and Bernard are standing on the road
that runs along the river right in front of the cottage. 5. This
is not a good picture, but it is a neat one. Dad spent a lot of time at
the Eagles Lodge off and on. He is with "Uncle" John Noe here. John
Noe was the Uncle of my maternal grandmother, Clara Noe Sullivan. This
picture is taken in the early 60's.
By the way, "Squee" was Fernand's nickname. When he was a kid, his mother shaved his head. He is nicknamed after a popular bald cartoon character of the time, Squeedunk. |
