In this
collage I have tried to portray my memory of my mom Lorene Sullivan Andris,
in the earlier part of my life. 1. Supermom. This is one of my favorite
pictures of mom. She was always working, cheerfully for the most part,
either in the home or in the store. 2. At the store. In later years,
mom would come down to the store late morning, early afernoon, and dad
would go fishing. She also balanced the books and paid the taxes.3.With
Reba Ammon. Reba and Bernard Ammon were friends, and Bill Ammon, Bernard's
brother worked in the store. This picture was taken up at the cottage on
the Muskingum River which we owned in the early 50s .

4. Cards in the kitchen with grandmother. We called Clara Noe Sullivan "grandmother" to distinguish her from Eva Fickeisen Noe, whom we called "grandma." There was lots of card playing at our house, canasta, poker and seven up. We told fortunes, too. 5. On the front porch. Our house was set back from the street and 12 feet off the ground to avoid high water. "Squee" built a concrete block front to the house that held a realtor's office and later a grocery. The top of this building replaced our front porch. Neighbors joined us to exchange gossip and checkout what was going on up and down Greene Street. Mom's nickname was "Red" for her hair when she was young. Sister Vicki still has red hair. |
