The
man behind the camera. I've had a self-image problem all my life. I'm
a bit proud that this 12 year old kid was recording his family history
for posterity. The three gardenieers. I staged this
shot of brother, Tom, grandmother, Clara and mom in our side yard. We did
usually have vegetables and flowers in the back yard. The
Cottage, 1950. Here, left to right, are Bill Ammon, sister Vicki, Fernand--our
dad, Lorene--our mom, Bernard Ammon and Freddie Fitzgerald. We are partying
at the cottage on the Muskingum River which you can see in the background.
Fishing, playing cards, picnicking, and of course a few beers here and
there. |
Florida,
1951. We took lots of vacations in the early fifties. Florida and Vermont
stand out in my mind. We also spent a LOT of nights at the Starlight and
Jungle Drive In Theaters watching B movies (John Wayne and Gary Cooper
were dad's favorites) and consuming tons of popcorn, hot dogs, hamburgers,
candy bars and cokes. Squee and Red, 1959. By this time, I was out
of college and living in Cleveland. I think that is an Oldsmobile in the
background, but I'm not sure. This is a characteristic pose for both dad
and mom. |
