Sensing This on-line dictionary of GIS terms is sponsored by the
Association for Geographic Information and the University Of Edinburgh
Department of Geography. The dictionary includes definitions for 980 terms
compiled from a variety of sources and is supplemented by 52 diagrams. Topographic Map Symbols, a publication of the U.S.
Geological Survey, "explains the distinctive characteristics of a
topographic map, explains how to interpret the map, and gives an explanation
