Introduction to
PowerPoint
You can
type notes for each slide in this space. However, what you type here will
not appear on the slide or in the slide show. Also, the notes will not
print unless you click the appropriate print option to do so. Mini-slides help you determine what
information is contained on each slide PowerPoint
provides you with a default slide
ready for you to add text. Shortcuts for opening an
existing presentation or starting a new presentation. Toolbars that provide command
shortcuts

1 – Normal View
displays the slide where you can see and work with the entire surface. It
provides a space for taking notes much like note cards to accompany each slide.
Also, this view provides mini-slides down the left side of the screen to help
you identify which slide you are working on.
2 – Slide
Sorter View displays each slide in order and operates much like the
physical slide sorter used when placing slides into a carousel. The view
provides the option of moving slides and changing their order.
3 – Slide Show
View plays the presentation on the screen beginning with the slide
highlighted in slide sorter view or the slide being viewed in normal view.
Adding
Text
To add text to a slide:

Click Format 2. Click Background… 3.
Click the
drop-down arrow 4.
Click More Colors 5.
Click the Custom tab 6.
Select the
color you want 7.

Click Apply if you want the color only to
apply to the current slide or Apply
to All if you want the color on all the slides. 2

Sounds
and movies are inserted much like pictures are.
Movie from Clip Organizer and Sound from
Clip Organizer
work
very similar to inserting clipart. When the window
opens
on the right side of the screen click the Modify
button
then refer to steps 3-7 above.
Movie from File… and Sound from
File… work exactly like
inserting
a picture from file. Refer to steps 9-11 above.

Using Design Templates
If
you want your presentation to have a more decorative
background:

If
you want to remove the design template, select
the
blank background.
*Note: A design
template is placed on all the slides and PowerPoint
will not let a
presentation contain more than one design. All slides will
contain the same template.
