The World Wide Web is a system of information including text, pictures, video, etc. Access to this information is gained using addresses formatted in Hypertext Transfer protocol(http). Hypertext Markup Language(html) is used to create the websites. Information is found by using search engines or hypertext links that transfer the user to a new website or to a different location within the same site.
There are many things that can be done with the Web in the area of education. The most common use is to search for information. This information may come in the form of text to use for a research paper. It may come in the form of a picture(color or black line). It may also come in the form of video. Students can learn about everything from astronauts to zoology on the World Wide Web.
The World Wide Web has a wide variety of uses. Uses of Websites As of now we use a PC or MAC with a keyboard and a mouse to interface with the WWW. We connect either through a dial-up phone line or an always on connection such as a cable modem or DSL(Direct Line Service). I think there are many possibilities for the future of the Web. Some, if not all, are already in development. For example, how will we interface in the future. Voice recognition is here already but not widely used. Is it possible that we will be talking to our computers instead of typing? Virtual reality is another technology that is being developed further. Right now we can access and navigate 3-D virtual worlds on our monitors. Will there be a time that we are physically moving around in true 3-D environments.
