Bulletin Boards are places on the internet where people can read and post messages and information(See figure BB-1). It is an asynchronious form of CMC. Like other forms of CMC bulletin boards are usually subject specific. The messages are posted in threads so that a person can respond specifically to another message or start a new thought.(Konicek,Dugdale, and Schuh, 2002)
Students can use bulletin boards to post questions about a particular subject. They could also access a subject oriented bulletin board to read postings that are already there in order to find information. Teacher created bulletin boards could serve as a means for students to communicate with each other or the teacher while away from class. Web CT (see Figure BB-2) is a software that can be purchased in order to make bullten board discussions
