Senior Network/Server Technician

Provided on-site desktop, server and network support for small business and education customers throughout the St. Louis and Metro-East region.

Technical Environment:The Action Computer Company store had two physically separate networks to isolate customer computers brought in for service from company-owned computers running point-of-sale and other software.  Company network consisted of a custom-built Intel server running Small Business Server 2003 Premium and Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS) software.  Work orders were tracked and processed using an Access database project developed in-house that links with the RMS database for customer information.  Most “on-site” customer offices consist of 3-50 client PCs and one Windows server, either 2003 Standard or Small Business Server 2003 Standard/Premium.

User Services Supervisor, NTS-Residential Technology Services

Managed the daily operations of the Residential Technology Services (ResTech) office, providing Ethernet and cable television service, customer support and technical assistance to approximately 4,000 students living in University-owned housing. 

·         Supervised approximately 30 student workers, including Residential Computing Consultants (RCCs) and Technicians.

·         Managed desktop support program assisting other departments of the University.

·         Packaged and published first ResTech Security Pack, containing a Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition 10.1 client managed by a ResTech server, as well as Firewall and Windows Updates policies that cause customers to pull updates from ResTech’s WSUS server.

·         Answered all Help Desk calls until noon when the Help Desk was staffed.

Computer Services Technician II

Deployed District-wide Windows 2003 Active Directory, focusing on server infrastructure, domain migration, consolidation and management supporting ~8000 users and ~4000 computers.  Provided 2nd and 3rd level support to customers across the StLCC District within and outside the IT department for software, network and server problems.  .

·         Deployed and maintained 13 Active Directory domain controllers across 7 sites connected by links of widely varying speed.

Monitored key chemical properties of copper cast in the foundry during second shift.
