FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - ARTS & ISSUES

A NIGHT IN THE BALLROOM WITH TED SORENSEN

(Edwardsville, Ill.) Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Arts and Issues series kicks off the 2008-2009 series with former political advisor turned international lawyer, Ted Sorensen. The event will take place on Thursday, October 9, at 7:30pm in the Meridian Ballroom located in the Morris University Center.

Ted Sorensen along with former president John F. Kennedy were the authors of what many consider some of the greatest speeches in the 20th  century, including Kennedy’s inaugural address. At the age of 24, Ted Sorensen, a Nebraska raised lawyer, began his career as special council and advisor during Kennedy’s presidential time and since than he has gone on to practicing international law for more than 36 years. Sorensen has extensively written on the presidency and foreign affairs throughout his career. A breath of fresh air during a tumultuous time in politics this event looks to be an eye opener for those who attend.

The Arts and Issues series will bring in a Tony award winner, a few Celtic players, a Pulitzer-Prize winner, a National Geographic story, a musician from Nashville, and a drummer who is the son of a legend for its 2008-2009 series. The list of guests is full of life this year and Grant Andree, Director of Arts and Issues states, “Ted Sorensen is a politically educational way to start off a phenomenal Arts and Issues series. We here at Arts and Issues look forward to the season to come.”
