The SIUE School of Pharmacy prides itself on creating a close-knit, family-like environment. Just as families observe various traditions and celebrations, so does the School of Pharmacy.
We presented our 10th graduating class of pharmacists from this School earlier this month. In April, more than 35 students were honored at our annual scholarships and awards ceremony, and we honored our third-year students’ transition toward becoming pharmacists through our annual pinning ceremony.
While these traditional celebrations were indeed joyful, other occasions are more bittersweet for our School family.
One such event will be bidding farewell to Connie Stamper-Carr when she retires the at end of June. She has been director of student services since our inception and has been aptly referred to as the “heart and soul” of this School. We will extend our gratitude to her at a special gala July 14.
Another very bittersweet moment will be mine personally as I step down as dean in June. It has been my honor to serve as dean the past eight years. The decision to shift more of my focus to my family was not an easy one, but I make this transition at a time when the School of Pharmacy is strong and poised to continue thriving.
I want to express my gratitude to the SIUE School of Pharmacy community for the support that the School has received during my tenure. Our students, alumni, faculty and staff are second to none. Thank you all for your interest and continued support.
Best regards,
Dr. Gireesh Gupchup
Dean
