Saturday, April 17th
Willoughby Farm
8:30am to 12:00pm

Willoughby Farm is part of the Collinsville Area Recreation District (CARD). It is a place where the history of the area comes alive through historic structures, original tools, replica gardens, and a restored environment. Along with housing historic structures, farm tools and live animals, CARD staff has created over three miles of hiking trails along the woodland and prairie and is working to restore the land as part of its conservation mission.

What will the volunteers do?

There are several volunteer opportunities at Willoughby Farm. Volunteers have been removing invasive species from the Conservation Reserve and restoring it to a native Illinois woodland, savanna, and prairie. Other volunteers have built benches and bird sanctuaries and have helped to restore buildings on the grounds. Others have helped to tend to the animals and plant and harvest the gardens. The produce is then donated to area food pantries.

No experience is necessary; staff at the farm will provide you with all the information and guidance you need.

Participants need to wear suitable clothing and sturdy shoes.
Transportation will be provided (please meet in Lot B at 8:30am).
Free-however, advance registration is required .

Please RSVP here.

Saturday, April 17th
Collinsville Food Pantry
8:30am to 12:00pm

The food pantry is available to residents in need of food. Clients are able to “shop” for their groceries and choose what they need and will use. Daytime and evening hours are available for families in need. Special services are provided during holidays as well as emergency food boxes for crisis situations. This service helps those in crisis meeting certain criteria and still attempts to reinforce a self esteem of independence at the same time.

What will the volunteers do?

Fight hunger in the community by sorting food and stocking shelves.

Participants need to wear suitable clothing and sturdy shoes.
Transportation will be provided (please meet in Lot B at 8:30am).
Free-however, advance registration is required.
Please RSVP here.
