Housing Assignments and Move-In Information

In early July, University Housing emailed and mailed housing assignments and move-in information out to residents for the fall 2021. Students can use their e-ID and password to log-in to the My Housing Portal to view their room assignments and any roommate/suitemate contact information. Move-in information such as move-in day/time, what to bring lists, etc. can all be found on our Move-In page.

If your student's housing or college plans have changed for fall 2021 and they no longer need University Housing, they must submit a cancellation request. The deadline to submit a form without a required reason is August 1.

COVID-19 Update

Beginning August 9, all on-ground students will be required to complete mandatory weekly COVID-19 testing. Students can request an exemption from required screening for the following reasons:

  • If they are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (2 weeks from date of last vaccination dose)
  • If they have tested positive for COVID-19 within the last 90 days

To request an exemption, go to https://forms.office.com/r/6nt3nDPcUL. Please have your vaccination record with dates or positive test result documentation available for upload. Submissions are reviewed and approved by Health Service staff.

You can find all University Housing COVID-19 policies and procedures on our website. The SIUE COVID-19 page also includes institutional updates and polices related to COVID-19.

The SIUE Experience

The SIUE Experience is an extended orientation program for new students that takes place the weekend before classes begin. Throughout the program, you’ll build on the knowledge you gained during Springboard to Success or Transfer Orientation to learn more about the SIUE community, academic and co-curricular expectations and opportunities to shape your experience. You will also interact with faculty and current students eager to share their knowledge with you. While not all aspects of this program are required, participation is vital to a successful start to your journey at SIUE.

Remind your students to be checking their email every Friday, so they don't miss our Get Connected email series from SIUE Experience, which covers information students and families need to be prepared for the start of the Experience and the fall semester. In this series we also include registration for our summer webinar series Transition Tuesday, which occurs every week for students and will be open to families as we get closer to the program. Recordings of previous Transition Tuesdays can be found at https://www.siue.edu/springboard/prepare/transition-tuesday-webinars.shtml.

For more information email studentsfirst@siue.edu.

Questions for your Student

Each newsletter will include questions to assist your student as they continue at or transition to SIUE.

  • New Student: How do you plan to keep in contact with friends and family back home? It can be helpful to schedule visits and calls/video calls in advance.
  • All Students: How often should you and your student communicate? Texting, calling, visiting. It is important to set expectations and boundaries that are mutally acceptable by both sides.
  • All Students: Are you regularly checking your SIUE email? Just like a work email, your SIUE email should be checked regularly for important information and updates.
  • All Students: How often are you planning on coming home?
  • All Students: What things do you need before you leave?
  • New Student: Are you keeping in contact with anyone from Springboard?
  • All Students: Have you talked to your future roommate about what they are bringing and what you are bringing?
