Meet Syeda Mariah Banu, MS in Computer ScienceSyeda graduated with her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Osmania University in India among the top students. After working full-time for over 1.5 years, she realized how much she loved books, studying, and wanted to resume her educational journey. After hours of research, she decided that SIUE was the one for her and that getting a masters degree in Computer Science would not only quench her craving for books but better equip her with the knowledge she required to grow. Syeda said her biggest accomplishment while a student at SIUE was presenting in the 2023 North American Plant Phenotyping Network Annual Conference about her ongoing research. She also won the People's Choice Top Fast Forward Speaker Award. Her current GA position, Research Assistant under Dr. Rubi Quinones in The Plant Vision lab, has been the catalyst for her research work and she hopes to publish her thesis paper soon using the notable research she has been working on. Faculty member Rubi Quinones said of Syeda, "She shines and I foresee her being successful in her dream of being a professor." Syeda plans on continuing her educational journey by attaining a phD in her field. Her career goals include contributing towards research in the field of plant phenotyping and computer vision. |
