The Lifeline and 988

If you or someone you know is struggling or in crisis, help is available. Call or text 988 or chat  988lifeline.org

Cougar Pride: Student & Alumni Highlights

Meet Gabriel Msengi, MPH and MBA

Gabriel started his journey at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2013. He graduated with a B.S. degree in Chemistry (concentration in Biochemistry) and a minor in Biological Studies. He attended the Howard University College of Pharmacy and obtained his Doctorate in Pharmacy. During his time in Washington D.C.,  he saw that he thrived & enjoyed organizational leadership and public health. He knew that by having a deeper understanding of health disparities and how to address them effectively, he could potentially leave an impact on underserved communities.

As the FAME and GAME Graduate Assistant, Gabriel is devoted to helping the students he serves succeed in college and is willing to help those around him in any way possible. He is a well-mannered, focused, and driven individual who is an excellent role model for students. He is dedicated and determined to succeed and expects the same from those around him.

Although Gabriel may be done with his educational journey after completing these two programs, he never wants to stop learning or growing. He wants to be able to use his acquired knowledge to give back to the communities that made him who he is today. As a public health pharmacist, he hopes to find a role that will allow him to improve and increase access to health care for minority populations. Then take those experiences and focus on his long-term goal of building a primary care clinic in Tanzania.
