Yesterday, the SIU Board of Trustees met on the SIUE campus and approved Interim President J. Kevin Dorsey, MD, PhD, former dean and emeritus provost of the SIU School of Medicine, to succeed former President Randy Dunn.
"We look forward to working with Dr. Dorsey regarding recurring programs, as well as new initiatives on our campus in 2018-19,” SIUE Chancellor Randy Pembrook said. “We anticipate that one element for discussion in the coming months will be the hiring of a consultant to review the state funding allocation as unanimously specified by the Board at its previous meeting.”
In five weeks, the new freshman class (Class of 2022) will arrive on campus and usher in a new academic year. “Our talented faculty and staff will be prepared to deliver the excellent academic and social experiences that our student body has traditionally received, and together we will continue to solve problems in our disciplines and communities,” Pembrook said.
The SIUE leadership team is committed to building upon this institution’s success and enhancing its already strong position as a significant contributor to the well-being of southern Illinois and the Metro East, in particular, along with many other regions in the state and the metropolitan St. Louis area, as well.
