Two SIUE Faculty are March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Winners

Two SIUE School of Nursing faculty were among the winners at the March of Dimes’ sixth annual Nurse of the Year Award Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. 

SIUE’s Mary Lee Barron, PhD, and Mary Ann Boyd, PhD, were among the more than 20 nurses honored by The March of Dimes for exemplifying an extraordinary level of patient care, compassion and customer service in their respective disciplines.

Barron, associate professor in the Department of Family Health and Community Health Nursing, was honored in the advanced practice category. Her clinical areas of expertise include obstetrics/gynecology, natural family planning and fertility health. 

Boyd, professor emerita in the Department of Primary Care and Health Systems Nursing, was the winner in the behavioral health category. Her clinical areas of expertise include psychiatric-mental health nursing and geropsychiatric nursing.

Campus Kitchen Celebrates Collection of 735 Pounds of Food

Campus Kitchen at SIUE would like to thank the SIUE community for its continued generosity. Campus Kitchen received 735 pounds of donated food through the Give Thanks Give Food drive.

With your donations, Campus Kitchen was able to donate 118 grocery bags full of Thanksgiving meal items to Community Hope Center in Cottage Hills. Each bag fed approximately 2-3 people.

The "Parallel Visions: BFA Exhibition" runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday, through Friday, Dec. 15.

SIUE Introduces Online Organizational Talent Management Series

SIUE is introducing online organizational talent management courses that provide instruction and practical applications for incorporating industrial/organizational psychology into organizational decision-making. Enrollment is open now for the non-credit course modules that will begin in February. 

Topics include gathering high-quality survey data, analyzing and interpreting survey results, and designing structured interviews to improve the selection process accuracy. Courses are taught by Joel Nadler, PhD, associate professor of psychology in SIUE’s School of Education, Health and Human Behavior, an experienced professor and practitioner of industrial/organizational psychology,

The STEM Center is hosting the final session of Conversations @ STEM until next semester, so don't put it off if you've been meaning to stop by!

Payroll Deduction Option Available for Student Fitness Center Membership

SIUE faculty and staff will have the option to sign up for payroll deduction for a Student Fitness Center membership.

Membership is in effect from the date that you sign up through Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018.

The SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School (CHS) is kicking off its annual Angel Tree giving program. This is your opportunity to support part of our larger University community, and make this holiday season a memorable one for the students at CHS.

As winter approaches, the staff of CHS would like to ensure that all of our students experience the joy of the holiday season. To that end, we would like to invite you to participate in our Angel Tree giving program.

This year, it is our goal to give every CHS student a new sweatshirt and to give additional winter gear to the neediest students.

Leadership Presenters Needed for Spring 2018

Presenters are needed for the Spring 2018 Leadership Programming Series. The Student Leadership Development Program is open to any SIUE undergraduate or graduate student, and covers a variety of topics centered around leadership, communication and career issues.

Leadership Lunches—will occur on Tuesdays at 12:30 p.m. throughout the semester (dates below)

Women’s Leadership Institute—February 20 from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

We are interested in a wide range of topics. Listed below are topics that have been previously offered, but we are interested in other topics as well. Each session is between 45 minutes and 1 hour, and we ask that the sessions not just be a full lecture. We hope that there will be some sort of interactive portion with an activity, discussion, etc.
