SIUE Office of Educational Outreach invites you to attend the fall 2017 Lifelong Learning Speakers Series every Wednesday on the campus of SIUE.

Lifelong Learning Speakers Series presentations are today in the Morris University Center, Hickory-Hackberry Room:

Martial Arts for Fitness and Self-Defense, presented by Jennifer Rehg, PhD, associate professor of anthropology

1:15-2:30 p.m.
Syrian Refugees in Germany: Lessons from the Guest Worker Past for Germany Future, presented by Jennifer Miller, PhD, associate professor of historical studies

The cost is FREE for alumni and students, with valid identification, $5 for the public and $2 for Lifelong Learning members

Celebrate the Life of Former Vice Chancellor for Administration Kenn Neher, Oct. 19

Kenn Neher, of Edwardsville, died Thursday, Oct. 12 at Barnes Jewish Hospital’s Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis. He was 72.

Phi Kappa Phi Sponsors Free Webinar on Graduate School Admissions

The Phi Kappa Phi Student Advisory Committee is sponsoring a free webinar on Graduate School Admissions from The Princeton Review:

This event is open to all interested students across campus.

It will give insight into the following:

  • Medical, law, business and grad school admissions processes
  • GPA, test scores, extra-curriculars
  • Required entrance exams and the timeline for taking them
  • The application process for graduate school
  • How students can improve their chances of gaining admission to their top school choices

A question and answer session will follow.

SIUE Gardens Community Fall Clean Up & Family Bonfire, Nov. 4

Fall has arrived and it's a beautiful time of year on the SIUE campus! The SIUE Alumni Association welcomes you and your family to join us in volunteering at the SIUE Gardens.

1-3 p.m. – Gardens Clean Up at the SIUE Gardens
3-5 p.m. – Family Fun at Birger Hall
Saturday, Nov. 4

After raking leaves and spreading mulch, you’re invited to head over to Birger Hall for plenty of fun for the entire family. Enjoy activities for all ages including trackless train rides, face painting, a corn pit, kettle corn, roasting hotdogs and s'mores, fall family photos, games, prizes and more!

Feel free to bring your own work gloves, but tools will be provided. Park in the Gardens parking lot and follow the signs to the work site.

Cougar Basketball, FSM Announce 2017-18 TV Schedule

FOX Sports Midwest will televise eight SIUE men's basketball games in 2017-18.

This marks the sixth consecutive year that FOX Sports Midwest, which features St. Louis Cardinals baseball and St. Louis Blues hockey, will serve as the television home of the Cougars.

FOX Sports Midwest reaches nearly 6 million homes. This season, for the first time, FOX Sports South and FOX Sports Southeast will televise several of the games in the package, bringing SIUE basketball to as many as 12 million additional homes.

FOX Sports Midwest coverage begins Friday, Nov. 15 when the Cougars welcome Valparaiso to the Vadalabene Center for a 7 p.m. contest.
