Each session will have a different subject, and an open invitation for anyone in the SIUE community to participate, along with a few suggested articles for those who want to delve a little deeper.

Club Sports Raising Money for Breast Cancer Research

Campus Recreation’s Club Sports program will once again raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer research, a disease that severely impacts students and their families.

Special Club Sports pink t-shirts will be sold at various Club Sports events during the month of October. The Sport Club Executive Council will be voting at their next meeting to determine which charity to donate the funds.

This free Fall Conference will be a time to talk about the issue of addressing race, racism and other acts of hate on our campus. We can all become change agents. The conference will utilize case studies of different events that happen on college campuses.

The School of Engineering and The American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter will host an Underground Utilities Solutions Conference through the Department of Educational Outreach for four professional development hours:

Special EUE Funding Available for FY18

Provost Denise Cobb has made available funding for Excellence in Undergraduate Education (EUE) program projects to be completed in by June 30, 2018.

The priorities for this special program will be to fund support projects that pilot or implement high-impact practices (or high-impact community engagement practices) in programs and broad disciplines in which such practices are not common nor well-developed. Further information about high-impact practices can be found at aacu.org/leap/hips.

The processes and guidelines for this special EUE funding opportunity will follow those already established for the EUE program (see siue.edu/eue). The deadline to submit an online application is Friday, Oct. 13. Proposals will be reviewed and awards announced by Monday, Oct. 23. Proposals must include a timeline that assures full implementation and evaluation are completed by June 30, 2018.

Don’t miss SIUE Campus Recreation’s annual ski and snowboard trip to Copper Mountain, Colorado.

Registration and full payments are due by Tuesday, Oct. 31

Arrival: Sunday, Dec. 17

Checkout: Friday, Dec. 22 

The cost is $595 for faculty, staff, alumni and guests. The price includes a four-day lift ticket and five night’s mountain lodging. Ski/snowboard rentals, lessons and extra day lift tickets are available at an extra charge. Transportation is not included.
