Please Contribute to SIUE Student Government's Donation Drive for Survivors of Hurricane Harvey

Parts of Texas have been devastated by the havoc of Hurricane Harvey. Many people have lost everything ranging from homes to cars to clothing. In this time of need, it is imperative that we come together as a campus and show our support for those affected.

Student Government is hosting a donation drive throughout the month of September. We will be accepting various items including, but not limited to:

Non-perishable food items
Bottles of water
Lightly used clothing and shoes of all sizes, including children's clothing
Underclothes
First-Aid items
Books
Toiletries
Baby diapers and formula
Blankets
Cleaning supplies
Monetary donations (Student Government will use the monies to purchase more items)

Donations will be accepted during this week and will be mailed out next week.

All donations can be dropped off at the Student Government office, Student Success Center (SSC), Room 1280.

We appreciate your help throughout this time, and no donation is too small.

Please share this information with family, friends and neighbors as we stand together in support of the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Together, we can make a difference.

For more information, please contact Ramón DeShazer at 650-3821 or rdeshaz@siue.edu.

CAS and SEHHB to Co-Host Explore Day, Sept. 30 in MUC

The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior (SEHHB) are hosting an Explore Day.

Saturday, Sept. 30
Morris University Center

Explore Days offer current and prospective students opportunities for in-depth interaction with representatives from specific academic areas, as they work to decide which program will best foster their growth and prepare them to achieve their future aspirations.

Explore Day attendees will also learn about the various ways to get involved on campus, see a residence hall, take a campus tour and speak with representatives from the Office of Admissions and Student Financial Aid.

In an effort to offer students an efficient and effective exploration of programming, this year, CAS and the SEHHB will co-host their Explore Day.

The collaborative offering is designed to better highlight the choices students have, and help them find information they seek more easily. For instance, those with an interest in becoming a math educator can be directed to the appropriate programming, since mathematics is housed in CAS and education in the SEHHB.

Please register at siue.edu/explore-days.

Other upcoming Explore Days include the School of Pharmacy on Saturday, Oct. 14, School of Business on Saturday, Nov. 4 and School of Engineering on Saturday, Nov. 11.
