Welcome back! We would like to invite you to participate in a learning community.
Learning communities are groups of three to five faculty/staff that come together to help each other enhance teaching and learning at SIUE. This is the fifth year we’ve offered such groups, and the people who have joined have found the communities rewarding.
Learning communities are informal ways to hear what other people on campus are doing to engage students and to receive feedback from a group of colleagues about dilemmas you may be having with student engagement.
Learning communities are not very time consuming. You will meet once a month with your group for about an hour. Once during the semester, you have the chance to discuss an issue you may be having with student engagement and the other three months, you help others think about their issue.
If you are interested in joining, please email Linda Markowitz, PhD, professor in the Department of Sociology, lmarkow@siue.edu.
