SIUE Names Boddie Dir. of Counseling Services

SIUE Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jeffrey Waple, PhD, has named Courtney Boddie, LPC, NCC, as director of counseling services. Boddie is projected to assume his new responsibilities on Tuesday, Aug. 1.  

Boddie has an extensive history of serving the needs of diverse students, having worked in higher education for the past decade in instruction, disability affairs, tutoring and counseling. He arrives on the SIUE campus after serving as an assistant professor of clinical counseling, program site administrator, and clinical counseling center co-director at Central Methodist University (CMU) in Columbia, Mo. He was responsible for overseeing the partnership between CMU and Moberly Area Community College, providing operational oversight for student advisement, remediation, recruitment, training and evaluation of adjunct faculty, site scheduling, program promotion, and community partnerships. 

Boddie earned a bachelor’s in organizational behavior/human resources, social entrepreneurship and psychology from the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He achieved a master’s in education, specializing in counseling and psychotherapy, from UMSL. He will soon defend his dissertation in completion of his doctorate of philosophy in counseling and counselor education from UMSL.

Eligibility Documentation Required:

1. Current Illinois driver’s license or Illinois picture I.D. of head of household; must be a resident of St. Clair County.

2. Social security cards for all household members (NO EXCEPTIONS)

3. Current medical card (Medicaid or Medicare), if applicable.

4. Proof of (90) DAY INCOME from (ALL SOURCES) prior to application date for ALL family members in the household.

5. Any family member in the household age 18 and older WITH NO INCOME must provide:
• Proof applied for financial assistance (e.g. child support, SSA, SSI, TANF, GA etc.); or
• If UNEMPLOYED, provide an Illinois Job Link from the Illinois Department of Employment Security
(with current activity for job searches) or current school schedule

6. If receiving UNEMPLOYMENT, provide proof of PAYMENT DETAIL SHEET from the Illinois Department of Security office from start to current date

7. Proof of RESIDENCY: Current lease and occupancy permit

IHP Seeks Your Donations to Welcome International Students

The International Hospitality Program at SIUE welcomes our international students to the area. We try to demonstrate the warmth and generosity of the community by befriending them and helping them to feel comfortable in their new homes. We could use your help in filling requests from our new group of fall semester international students!

“Back to School” is often the time of year to reorganize and replace items in your household. If you, your relatives or friends are planning to replace any of the following items, please consider donating them to IHP for use by international students:

  • Small desks, chairs and reading tables
  • Vacuum cleaners
  • Beds/mattresses (twin and full size only)
  • Sheets
  • Blankets/comforters
  • Towels/wash cloths
  • Small,light sofas/futons
  • Living room chairs
  • Lamps
  • Kitchen tables and chairs
  • Kitchen utensils, pots and pans, dishes
  • Microwaves, rice cookers, blenders, food processors and toaster ovens

If you have any of these smaller household items to donate, please feel free to bring them to the donations area:
