Preview SIUE Welcomes Prospective Students, Today

The Office of Admissions, in partnership with many in the SIUE community, will welcome more than 1,100 guests, including more than 380 prospective students, to campus today for the annual summer Preview SIUE program. This attendance number is notable, as we’ll be hosting 47-percent more prospective students as compared to last summer! Through the program, the students and their guests will experience and explore the many opportunities at SIUE.

Preview SIUE will kick off at 9 a.m. in the Meridian Ballroom and will continue throughout the day with a majority of the programming happening within the Morris University Center. Many guests will be on campus until 2 p.m. Please know that the MUC will be quite busy during the day, in particular during lunch as many guests may choose to dine on campus.

I would like to say “thanks” in advance to so many who are a part of this most important visit program for SIUE. I invite you to join the Office of Admissions in welcoming these guests to campus, showing them the excitement on campus and helping them see why SIUE can be their future home to achieve their educational goals.

We will host our fall Preview SIUE programs on Monday, October 8 and Friday, November 10.

Monday-Friday, July 17-28

In the Cosmic Investigators Odyssey Camp, students begin their journey of learning to navigate by preparing a star shapes and stories log book. Of course, they will need to know the different types of telescopes, how they work, and build one to take home. Participants will explore our solar system, making moon craters, solar viewing, investigating edible rocks (meteors), conducting planet temperature experiments and building a pocket solar system. Along the way, students will participate in the Viking search for life experiments and look for life in the universe.

Campers and their families are invited to a star party with the River Bend Astronomy Club on the evening of Saturday, July 22 at the Shaw Sky Lab on SIUE's campus.

Registration costs for Odyssey Science Camps are $325, plus a $25 non-refundable application fee. Registration information is available at siue.edu/summer/camps.
