Amazon Supports SIUE Faculty Research on Illinois Chorus Frog

Dr. Essner kneeling in a field

Amazon has gifted $10,000 to SIUE in support of Dr. Richard Essner’s research on the Illinois Chorus Frog. Essner is an associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences.

“I am excited by Amazon’s support of our research,” Essner said. “It is unusual to see a corporation take such a strong interest in local conservation. Their donation will allow us to purchase radio transmitters that will be used to track the movements of Illinois Chorus Frogs. This will help us to identify critical habitat and inform our conservation effort.”

In March, Essner will give a presentation on his research to Amazon employees of the fulfillment centers in Edwardsville. In addition, each Amazon fulfillment center identifies a mascot and the Illinois Chorus Frog will serve as the mascot for one of the Edwardsville buildings.

We also connect you with other parents who share in the wonder of parenting a preschooler.

April theme: In My Garden
The sun is shining, birds are singing, insects are buzzing and critters are sniffing, wriggling, chirping, hopping and burrowing. We’ll buzz like bees, fly like butterflies, and sing like birds to discover the hidden delights of our backyards through listening, singing, movement and pretend play.
