Today is the Last Day to Help Campus Kitchen SIUE Raise the Dough

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE is competing with 25 other Campus Kitchens across the country to see which campus can “raise the most dough” in the Campus Kitchens Project “Raise the Dough” fundraiser.

The competition ends today.  

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE relies solely on monetary and in-kind donations to continue fighting hunger in the St. Louis Metro area and we need you to help us!

Summer Showbiz 2017 Auditions Held Today

The SIUE Department of Theater & Dance announces its annual open auditions for its Summer Showbiz productions.

The auditions will be held on today in Katherine Dunham Hall, room 2012.

Productions for the season:
Working the Musical, performances June 2 -- 4, June 9 – 11, casting ages 14 and up
Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performances June 23 – 25 and June 30 – July 2, casting ages 16 and up
The Addams Family a New Musical, with performances July 14--16 and July 21 – 23, all roles to be filled by adults except for Lucas Beineke, Wednesday Addams and Addams Ancestors, all 16 and up, and Lurch, 16 and up with a height requirement of at least six feet tall; and Pugsley Addams, 12 and up. All ethnicities are welcome!

To set up an audition time, please call 650-2773 or drop by the Theater and Dance Office located in Room 1031 in Katherine Dunham Hall between the hours of 9 a.m.--4 p.m. Callbacks will be immediately scheduled.

Today is the Last Day to Help Out the STEM Center

The SIUE STEM Center is in need of approximately 60 two-liter soda bottles to use for an outreach event they’ll be hosting.

The event will engage Metro East students grades 3-5 in STEM-related topics, and fuel their excitement for the areas of study!

If you have any bottles to donate, please contact STEM Resource Center Manager Colin Wilson at 650-3500 by the close of business today.

Housed in the Department of Educational Leadership within the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior, the College Student Personnel Administration (CSPA) program provides an educational opportunity for student affairs employees or anyone interested in pursuing a career in higher education or student affairs.

The program will prepare graduates to assume entry- to mid-level student affairs or higher education administration positions in two-year or four-year public and private institutions. Occupations in this category include directors and other positions in multiple areas in colleges and universities, such as financial aid, advising, service learning, Greek life, residential life and international programs.

Saturday Studio Art Workshop are set for:

Studio instruction is once again being offered for grades K-12 students.

All classes are designed to stimulate creative growth. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in a variety of media and in generating ideas for creative expression.

Art teachers in Saturday Studio classes are becoming certified art specialists and are art majors in the Department of Art and Design.

All sessions will be held in the Art and Design West building on SIUE’s campus.

Extended Deadline for Student Employee of the Year Nominations, Feb. 27

April 9-15 has been declared National Student Employee Week by the National Student Employment Association (NSEA).

During this week, we encourage you to join us in celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of our student employees, as they are a vital part of the success of our University.

In addition, we invite you to nominate one of your student employees for SIUE Student Employee of the Year. A nomination form can be printed from siue.edu/studentemployment. To be eligible, a student must be employed for a minimum of six months between July 1, 2016 and June 30, 2017 (anticipated).

The new deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 27.

After a committee review, one student will be selected to be Student Employee of the Year for SIUE. The winner will be announced during National Student Employee Week and will have his/her name and nominating letter sent to the state competition. The winner will also receive a $500 scholarship!

Have you seen red tags around campus?

Throughout the month of February, the Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow, (STAT) student organization has joined hundreds of universities worldwide to participate in Student Engagement and Philanthropy Month, organized by CASE.

This initiative is designed to increase student understanding of philanthropy and how giving impacts SIUE. It is also meant to increase student engagement now and as future alumni.

The red tags placed around campus represent the tangible impact our donors have on SIUE. TAG stands for Thank-A-Giver.

If you see tags, take a selfie with them and post them on the STAT facebook page with #SIUETAG.

Each tag found and selfie posted, equals an entry into a drawing to win a $100 Visa gift card.

The SIUE Chapter 203 of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society is sponsoring a book exchange during the spring semester.

The Honorary Degrees and Distinguished Service Award Committee invites nominations from the University community for consideration by the committee. All departments and schools are asked to consider and submit well-deserving nominations.

Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society Announces its Awards Season

The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society -- SIUE Chapter 203 is announcing the opening of its awards season. Phi Kappa Phi is seeking student applicants for:

  • Undergraduate Scholarship ($1,000)
  • Undergraduate Paper Competition (prizes of $200, $100 and $50)
  • Graduate Fellowship ($1,000 from SIUE PKP Chapter; forwarded to national office for additional fellowships)

The application deadline is March 17.
