Vote until NOON Today in SIUE's Healthcare Diversity Summer Camp's Bid for Arcus Award

The St. Louis Regional Chamber has yet again honored Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in its Arcus Awards program. This year, the University’s Healthcare Diversity Summer Camp is a finalist in the Inclusion and Talent Attraction category.

The fourth annual Arcus Awards, presented by RubinBrown LLP, will honor companies, organizations and institutions that are operating to make the St. Louis region a better place to live, work and invest. Winners will be announced live on stage. Networking begins at 5 p.m. and the program ceremony is at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch.

Vote for your business of choice at arcusawards.com. Voting lasts until noon, today. Businesses are competing in their respective categories and all nominees compete for the People’s Choice Award.

Don't Miss Jason Swagler Jazz Faculty Recital, Feb. 23

Jason Swagler, assistant professor in the Department of Music, will present a jazz faculty recital.

Swagler will be accompanied by jazz faculty members Adaron Jackson (piano), Zebadiah Briskovich (bass) and Miles Vandiver (drums).

The recital will feature original compositions and music by Stevie Wonder, Joe Zawinul and more.

Campus Kitchen SIUE Raise the Dough Campaign Continues

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE is competing with 25 other Campus Kitchens across the country to see which campus can “raise the most dough” in the Campus Kitchens Project “Raise the Dough” fundraiser.

The competition runs through Friday, Feb. 24.  

The Campus Kitchen at SIUE relies solely on monetary and in-kind donations to continue fighting hunger in the St. Louis Metro area and we need you to help us!

Casting Calls for Summer Showbiz 2017 Auditions, Feb. 24

The SIUE Department of Theater & Dance announces its annual open auditions for its Summer Showbiz productions.

The auditions will be held Friday, Feb. 24 in Katherine Dunham Hall, room 2012.

Productions for the season:
Working the Musical, performances June 2-4, June 9-11, casting ages 14 and up
Shakespeare’s The Tempest, performances June 23-25 and June 30-July 2, casting ages 16 and up
The Addams Family a New Musical, with performances July 14-16 and July 21-23, all roles to be filled by adults except for Lucas Beineke, Wednesday Addams and Addams Ancestors, all 16 and up, and Lurch, 16 and up with a height requirement of at least six feet tall; and Pugsley Addams, 12 and up. All ethnicities are welcome!

To set up an audition time, please call 650-2773 or drop by the Theater and Dance Office located in Room 1031 in Katherine Dunham Hall between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Callbacks will be immediately scheduled.

This year's event is titled "Mizizi" (Celebrating our roots).

The event gives everyone an opportunity to experience Africa first hand, as they enjoy African food, dance, drama, poetry and more.

Admission is $10 for students and $15 for faculty, staff and the public.

Diversity Strategic Plan Draft Now Available on Blackboard

Please log into Blackboard and review the Diversity Strategic Plan Draft, which consists of Goals and Objectives proposed by the University Diversity Council, and also contains comments and ideas from the Summit.

Also included is a draft timeline for the movement of the Plan.

The Undergraduate Scholars Showcase is an annual opportunity to highlight the depth and variety of learning experiences offered by SIUE’s Senior Assignment program and the Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (URCA) program.

Each academic unit demonstrates the best of what the University's undergraduates have mastered. Each department and program nominates two outstanding Senior Assignment projects to be presented at the Undergraduate Scholars Showcase. In keeping with the spirit of last year’s event, URCA Associates and Assistants will be displaying their presentations as well.

Each participant will receive a certificate of achievement. This growing event allows students, faculty, and community members an opportunity to celebrate learning and our students’ accomplishments.
