Dr. Robert Martin of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago is the featured speaker for SIUE's annual Axtell Memorial Lecture in celebration of Darwin Day (Charles Darwin’s birthday).

The SIUE Chapter 203 of the Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society is sponsoring a book exchange during the spring semester:

New Cooperative PhD in Environmental Resources

SIUE has introduced a cooperative PhD in environmental resources and policy (ER&P) with the Carbondale campus that will be available for the fall 2017 semester.

The central focus of the ER&P program is advanced interdisciplinary training and research on physical, biological, and social processes responsible for natural resource and environmental problems facing contemporary society.

Black Theater Workshop Presents "Exhibit A: A Journey of August Wilson's Plays"

The Black Theater Workshop (BTW) will perform "Exhibit A: A Journey of August Wilson’s Plays," directed by BTW Artistic Director and Professor Kathryn Bentley.

Free admission to all, but arrive early due to limited seating. Seating is general admission.

Join us for staged readings of scenes and monologues from the 10 plays in August Wilson’s The Pittsburgh Cycle – a series of ten plays that chronicle the African American experience throughout the 20th century. Each play is set in a different decade. All of the plays, except for one, take place in the Hill District of Pittsburgh.

The BTW cast includes: Jealyn Bouie, Dominick Garrison, Quincy Gordon, Mitanesha Moffett, Timothy Tan, Justin Truman, Michael Watkins and Kiara Ulmer with student director, Kenneth Coleman and dramaturge, Sherisse Cummings.

August Wilson was an American playwright whose work included a series of ten plays, The Pittsburgh Cycle, for which he received two Pulitzer Prizes for Drama. Wilson won a Pulitzer Prize and a Tony Award for his play, "Fences," and earned a second Pulitzer Prize for "The Piano Lesson."
