Ray'Sean Taylor Earns All-District Honors
SIUE graduate guard Ray'Sean Taylor (Collinsville, Illinois) has been named to the Great Lakes Region All-District team as selected by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The All-District honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I.
Taylor was a second team selection in a district which included players from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
The NABC introduced a new model for its Division I district alignment this season, with schools arranged by state rather than by conference. The modernized NABC Division I district alignment features 10 geographic regions that each encompass multiple states. Every Division I school in each given state belongs to that state's corresponding district.
Taylor was chosen as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, after leading the league in scoring at more than 19 points per game. He was named the Most Valuable Player at the OVC Tournament after leading the Cougars to the title, averaging 22 points over two games.
With 20 points in the OVC Championship game, Taylor became SIUE's all-time leading scorer and now has 1,952 career points.
This is Taylor's second career All-District selection. He also was an All-District pick in 2022-23.
SIUE, a 16 seed, will face No. 1 seed Houston in the first round of the NCAA tournament Thursday in Wichita, Kansas.
