Chase Bloomer Earns OVC Player of the Week Honors
SIUE junior shortstop Chase Bloomer (Ottawa, Kansas) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference baseball Player of the Week.
Chase Bloomer had a monster week for the Cougars, blasting four home runs and driving in nine runs over four games, while hitting .444 (8-18).
Last Wednesday Bloomer powered an SIUE comeback, leading the Cougars from down 10-0 to a 12-11 win over Evansville, with three home runs and seven RBIs. He then added a home run, two doubles and two more RBIs in a three-game road series at Missouri State.
Bloomer is tied for 11th in the OVC in batting average at .353 and is third with five home runs. His 1.051 OPS ranks eighth.
The award is the first in Bloomer's career and the first of the year for SIUE.
The Cougars are on the road Tuesday for 5 p.m. game at Illinois State.
