Five SIUE Softball Players Named Academic All-District
SIUE softball standouts Grace Lueke, Sydney Baalman, Anna Henderson, Jenna Herron and Kelsey Ray were named Academic All-District as selected by College Sports Communications, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
All individuals had to have competed in at least 50 percent of games and achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.500.
Lueke is an elementary education major with a 3.816 GPA. She finished the season with a .321 batting average, including a team-leading 32 runs batted in.
Baalman is an exercise science major with a 3.676 GPA. She completed the season with seven victories and topped the pitching staff with 104 strikeouts.
Henderson is an biological sciences major with a 3.710 GPA. She finished the season second in batting average at .325 while starting in 50 contests.
Herron is an speech language pathology and audiology major with a 3.532 GPA. A first team All-Ohio Valley Conference selection, she was among Ohio Valley Conference leaders in double with 14 while hitting .318.
Ray is an elementary education major with a 3.816 GPA. She led the pitching staff in earned run average (3.00), wins (8) and complete-game shutouts (2).
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First, second and third team will be announced in June.
