SIUE Tree Legacy Program
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is pleased to offer a tree program to honor and remember friends and relatives. The program is designed to assist SIUE with planting trees at the Edwardsville, Alton and East Saint Louis locations.
Donors can choose from a list of SIUE's approved trees such as maple, pecan and hickory, to have one planted in memory of a loved one. The University will select the location for the tree and while the trees will not be individually labeled, the donor will be recognized on the SIUE Facilities Management website as a contributor to the Tree Legacy Program.
Trees will be planted as young saplings, in locations determined by SIUE’s grounds arborists.
A tree purchase helps beautify the campus, creates a sense of ownership, and provides a meaningful amenity that thousands of outdoor users can enjoy and appreciate throughout the years. The Edwardsville campus, in particular, has in large part been reforested through the efforts of the University and its ground department over the past 50 plus years. This program will help continue that legacy with native, non-invasive species.
Please note, the purchase of a tree is not tax-deductible.
