SIUE Earns National Recognition in Housing and Residence Life
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s University Housing has been recognized nationally receiving the 2022 Skyfactor Assessment and Impact Award in Housing and Residence Life. SIUE was among only three universities selected for the national recognition. University Housing won in the category of satisfaction with community engagement due to its data-driven programs in support of on-campus living.
“Student connections to each other and to the community are critical for student retention and academic success,” said Mallory Sidarous, director of University Housing. “University Housing is committed to using data-driven insights to support residents in thriving, residential communities that address their social and academic needs.”
SIUE University Housing is made up of five residential housing communities that house over 2,600 residents. Each housing community fosters an environment that promotes opportunities for students to become civically, socially and academically responsible individuals who are engaged members of their current and future communities.
“We understand the importance of "home" during the college experience and our staff work hard to cultivate communities that feel like home for our students,” said Rex Jackson, associate director of residence life. “We are thrilled to see the positive impact of their hard work and dedication on our residential experience.”
“In-person events and gatherings have been quite limited for the past few years, resulting in an atypical college experience for many students,” said Vice President of Enterprise Solutions for Macmillan Learning Steven Ray. “Housing has helped lessen the impact by connecting students to educationally beneficial activities, amenities, and people. University Housing at SIUE successfully used data-driven insights to make meaningful improvements to the residential experience and we’re proud to recognize their work.”
