Alumna Travels from Denmark to Participate in SIUE Homecoming
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students, alumni and friends traveled from near and far to participate in the seventh annual Cougars Unleashed Homecoming Run held on Saturday, Sept. 24. One dedicated runner and proud SIUE alumna even crossed the seas to be part of this year’s event.
“The last two years I participated in the run virtually,” said Laila Landreth, a 2019 business administration graduate from Copenhagen, Denmark. “It has been wonderful to participate in this year’s run in-person. I love it here, and I make sure to visit SIUE every time I come back to the states.”
Landreth enjoyed the opportunity to connect with her alma mater the last couple years virtually while in Denmark, but she says nothing beats being in-person for the homecoming events.
“Being on campus I have gotten to meet other students who have gone here before and after me,” added Landreth. “I love getting to connect with the professors I have stayed in touch with. There are so many fun things going on. It is really great!”
“I think it is incredibly special that Landreth valued her SIUE experience so much that she wants to participate in events like Cougars Unleashed during homecoming,” said Tim Schoenecker, PhD, dean of the School of Business. “It demonstrates the kind of experience she had as an undergraduate that she wants to come back and celebrate her alma mater. We are proud to have her in our Cougar family!”
