SIUE Partners to Provide Amazon Employees Access to Undergraduate Degree Programs
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is proud to partner with Amazon’s Career Choice program to bring high-quality learning opportunities to rising professionals. Amazon’s Career Choice is an education benefit designed to empower employees to learn new skills so they can advance in their career, whether at Amazon or elsewhere.
According to Amazon, the program meets students where they are in their educational journeys. Amazon intends to invest $1.2 billion in the U.S. to upskill more than 300,000 employees by 2025 with the goal of helping employees move into higher-paying, in-demand jobs.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to serve the needs of employers and to deliver premier educational programming for these students,” said Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Denise Cobb, PhD. “Partnering with the Amazon Career Choice program allows SIUE to expand access and support high quality learning and skill building for individuals in the region and beyond as they seek the economic mobility that higher education offers. We look forward to serving new students through this program and ensuring that they have excellent educational experiences that will be transformative both personally and professionally.”
“We are thrilled to partner with Amazon to offer flexible paths to educational advancement for their employees,” shared SIUE’s Stephanie Simpson, assistant director of Online Student Services. “Through this partnership we can support students who are interested in an online undergraduate experience or in-person program, dependent upon their current role and obligations. Amazon makes it simple to utilize this benefit, and we are proud to contribute to participating employees’ advancement.”
“We’re looking forward to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville coming on board as an education partner for Career Choice, adding to the hundreds of best-in-class offerings available to our employees,” said Tammy Thieman, global program lead of Amazon’s Career Choice program. “We are committed to empowering our employees by providing them access to the education and training they need to grow their careers, whether that’s with us or elsewhere. We have intentionally cultivated a partner network of third-party educators and employers committed to providing excellent education, job placement resources, and continuous improvements to the experience. Today, over 50,000 Amazon employees around the world have already participated in Career Choice and we’ve seen first-hand how it can transform lives.”
